Mass Messaging System Changes Registration Requirements
CodeRED® No Longer Requires Email Addresses for Registration
PALMYRA, Va. – The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office wants County residents to be aware of a major change to CodeRED®, its high-speed notification messaging system.
The CodeRED® system provides Fluvanna County officials the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire county.
Previously, anyone who registered for CodeRED® needed to have a valid email address. However, CodeRED® recognizes that there may be a number of residents who want the service but do not have Internet access. Now County residents only need to create their own password when registering online – they no longer need to have an email address.
Individuals and businesses can enter their data into the system by logging onto the Fluvanna Sheriff’s Office website, www.fluvannasheriff.com , clicking onto “Community Programs” and then following the link to CodeRED®. You can also register at the County of Fluvanna’s website, www.fluvannacounty.org and follow the link to the CodeRED® Community Notification Enrollment" page. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, and zip.
After registering with CodeRED®, you can receive messages on your landline, cell phone and email.
The Sheriff’s Office wants to stress that even if you think you have registered with CodeRED® in the past, you should verify your registration; any individual or business who registered with CodeRED® before February 2013 should check their registration status.
To verify whether or not you are registered with CodeRED®, call 866-939-0911.
