The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is looking for people who want to assist others in need, provide protective services and offer guidance and example to the youth of our community. The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and gives preference in employment/appointment to eligible veterans and spouses of disabled veterans. All full time employees are enrolled in the Virginia Retirement System pension plan and receive life insurance fully paid by the County. In addition to employer contribution toward employee and family medical, dental and vision plans, the County offer is: 12 paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, excellent training programs and career growth. The Sheriff’s office runs on a 2 week work cycle with 12 hour days (3 days one week and 4 days one week).

Fluvanna County is a rural county with about 26 thousand residents and covers about 288 square miles in beautiful Central Virginia. It is within a short driving distance to both Charlottesville and Richmond.

The Sheriff’s Office works hard to maintain a low crime rate and prides itself on positive citizen encounters.

 Full time AND Part time (20 HR/WK) DEPUTY SHERIFFS:

Unlike larger agencies, officers and deputies in Fluvanna County get a chance to investigate some of their own cases and follow them from the initial report to the courtroom. The County offers opportunities for training and certifications; Patrol, Court Services, Civil Process, Criminal Investigations, bicycle and motorcycle patrol. Deputies also get opportunities for increased community involvement and have time to develop community relationships.

Salary starting at:
Non-VA DCJS Certified Deputy: $17.14 /HR. (Annually $37,440) + benefits.
Depending On Qualifications.
VA DCJS Certified Deputy: $18.00 /HR. (Annually $39,312) + benefits.

 Full time (40 HR/WK) EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER:

The Communications Officers provide a vital service to the Fluvanna County community by contributing to the safety and welfare of their fellow team members and citizens. They are the first point of contact in most emergency situations. The County offers extensive training and opportunities for career development in law enforcement.

Salary starting at: $16.78/HR. ($34,902 Annually + 8 HR. overtime per pay period) + benefits.
