The Lieutenant reports to the Chief Deputy. Transporting evidence to and from the State and/or Federal forensic labs. Acquiring the appropriate legal and agency documentation to dispose and/or release property from the custody of the Sheriff’s Office. Civil Process The Civil Unit is responsible for service and execution of civil process in Fluvanna County, as directed by the courts. This unit serves papers such as: Summons Subpoenas for witnesses Warrants for appearance in small claims court Papers for evictions procedures, summons for unlawful detainer, and writ of possession The unit serves approximately 7,000-9,000 papers per year.
